The eerie and deserted ghost town of Silent Hill draws a young mother desperate to find a cure for her only child’s illness. Unable to accept the doctor’s diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalized for psychiatric care, Rose flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers–and ignoring the protests of her husband. It’s soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she’s ever been. It’s smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living ‘darkness’ that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realizes that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.

Perfect Chills and Thrill!
Silent Hill is one of the best horror and thriller movies. Personally I’m not usually scared and thrilled by any horror movies but Silent Hill made me chilled. It seems many people had been expecting a lot about this movie from Silent Hill game and got a lot of disappointment by comparing between the movie and game. But me had never had a chance to play Silent Hill game felt it’s pretty nice and a must-watch movie if you are a fan of thriller movies.
Its gripping, suspenseful, and keeps you guessing and wanting more.
There are many things left unanswered and ambiguous which is good and the blind (and deaf) faith of the cult is terrifying and believable. Especially the climax of the film is gruesome and wonderful. It feels very Silent Hill and the ending is very interesting (personally I really like the ending).
You will see Silent Hill.
The darkness is spot on! It felt 100% Silent Hill with nice combination of live-action, CG and speed changes. The sequence with the grey children at the start is superb!
Great performance with fear
People have complained about Tanya Allen’s performance but I think she is great. Laurie and Radha were good together, bringing an interesting emotionality to the world. It was also good that the lighting and make-up were not used to hide all of the wrinkles and flaws in the actor’s faces.
Interesting visual effects, plentiful gore and shock value.
Someone says “Good movie if you know the games, Bad movie if you don’t”. I haven’t tried playing the game, but it’s a good movie for me and also you will like it. There are some parts could have been better, but it’s common issues that all great movies also have. I enjoyed this film a lot and strongly recommend to you!!

When it comes to bad movies, Paris Hilton is just an amateur, writes Joe Queenan.
THE release in the United States of Paris Hilton's The Hottie And The Nottie has revived the debate over the worst movie ever made. Because the film logged some of the worst receipts in history - $US250 ($273) per screen on opening weekend - there is a temptation to accord it the mythical status of such universally ridiculed films as Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes or Plan 9 From Outer Space, to welcome it into the dark, Bizarro World pantheon inhabited by phantasmagoric disasters such as Showgirls, Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, The Postman and, most recently, Gigli and Swept Away.
So you always wanted to go to an opera but didn't think you could afford it? Here's an opportunity you may want to consider. Especially since it's as easy as going to a movie.
This weekend, San Francisco Opera will launch the first of six digital cinema presentations with a production of Puccini's rarely-heard "La Rondine" ("The Swallow"), starring superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Like New York's Metropolitan Opera and Italy's La Scala, the San Francisco company sees screenings as a way to expand its audience.
Madonna's movie going straight to the net
Madonna is to release her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom straight onto the Internet--because she doesn't want to rely on her pop superstardom to make her filmmaking career a success.
Banned 'Rambo' a hot commodity in Myanmar
Police in military-run Myanmar have banned DVD vendors from selling the new "Rambo" film about a Vietnam war veteran fighting the junta's soldiers, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to buy it.
Juno, Michael Clayton Among Top Oscar Nominees
Clooney is up for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, which was also nominated for its direction, screenplay and as Best Picture. Juno, meanwhile, is the little picture that could. The comedy about a pregnant teen scored a Best Actress nod for Page and is also in the running for top film, director and script.
