An epic tale of family, faith, power and oil set on the incendiary frontier of California’s turn-of-the-century petroleum boom. The story chronicles the life and times of one Daniel Plainview, who transforms himself from a down-and-out silver miner raising a son on his own into a self-made oil tycoon. When Plainview gets a mysterious tip-off that there’s a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads with his son, H.W., to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston. In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday, Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike. But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value–love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son–is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.

There Will Be Blood is a triumph of modern film-making.
Oscar winner (Actor In A Leading Role and Cinematography) There will be blood is a masterful adaptation of Upton Sinclair’s 1926 novel, Oil! The film is a character study of paranoid personality disorder and greed. You might have experienced this character in your personal life being greedy and this movie is telling you a story of a man whose character is getting changed by his own personal life by relationships between him and others, son, brother and even himself. Its cinematography, Tempo and Acting are fantastic.
There Will Be Blood is a masterful American character study.
You might be a bit confused and bored about the story at first part of movie but as time goes by, you will be fell into the movie and find yourself quite concentrating on the movie. It seems quite simple on the surface, but underneath it is emotionally and morally complex. The story is quite well written.
Beautiful scenery and a bit strange music.
As it’s the winner of Oscar, Cinematography, the turn of the century period has been captured in its authenticity and grit very well on the screen.
The music might be annoying and you would feel the music is not quite appropriate for the time and place of the story. But the deliberate, suspenseful pacing along with the intense music and slightly artistic has strange power making you falling into the movie.
The performances are phenomenal.
Daniel Day-Lewis (Oscar winner of Actor In A Leading Role) has given a masterful performance. It is a little over the top and not completely realistic but he allows his role to completely possess him. An absolutely unforgettable performance! The other acting is good as well.
This film is simply stunning!
This movie has an attraction that after watching this movie, I really want to watch it again. It is perfect in every single conceivable way, especially the ending. There will be blood is a masterpiece. You must not miss watching this movie!

When it comes to bad movies, Paris Hilton is just an amateur, writes Joe Queenan.
THE release in the United States of Paris Hilton's The Hottie And The Nottie has revived the debate over the worst movie ever made. Because the film logged some of the worst receipts in history - $US250 ($273) per screen on opening weekend - there is a temptation to accord it the mythical status of such universally ridiculed films as Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes or Plan 9 From Outer Space, to welcome it into the dark, Bizarro World pantheon inhabited by phantasmagoric disasters such as Showgirls, Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, The Postman and, most recently, Gigli and Swept Away.
So you always wanted to go to an opera but didn't think you could afford it? Here's an opportunity you may want to consider. Especially since it's as easy as going to a movie.
This weekend, San Francisco Opera will launch the first of six digital cinema presentations with a production of Puccini's rarely-heard "La Rondine" ("The Swallow"), starring superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Like New York's Metropolitan Opera and Italy's La Scala, the San Francisco company sees screenings as a way to expand its audience.
Madonna's movie going straight to the net
Madonna is to release her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom straight onto the Internet--because she doesn't want to rely on her pop superstardom to make her filmmaking career a success.
Banned 'Rambo' a hot commodity in Myanmar
Police in military-run Myanmar have banned DVD vendors from selling the new "Rambo" film about a Vietnam war veteran fighting the junta's soldiers, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to buy it.

Clooney is up for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, which was also nominated for its direction, screenplay and as Best Picture. Juno, meanwhile, is the little picture that could. The comedy about a pregnant teen scored a Best Actress nod for Page and is also in the running for top film, director and script.
