10,000 B.C. is a good entertaining movie.

This movie has been expected by many people from its trailer and it’s finanally launched last week. Generally 10,000 B.C. is a entertaining action film. But if like me you’re expecting huge action pieces involving mammoths and sabre tooth tigers, you might get a bit of disappointment. From the trailers and big billboards in NY, it appears the film will be different than anything else but it’s not that surprisingly great movie. There is plenty of action and the scenes is good though.

10,000 BC tells of a simple story.

The story of 10,000 BC should not be seen as a historic movie. It’s not realistic or accurate on any means. It’s an action film set on a very “own” interpretation of the time it portraits. I felt something’s wrong, as many people agree, when the characters began speaking Enlgish. People in Stone Age speak English?? :-) A lot of people are complaining about the weak dialect in the movie when the characters are supposed to primitive. But it can be forgotten while you watch the marvelous panoramic visual scope of the yarn. The story is simple and easy to follow.

However, I believe that this movie does have some flaws. For instance, in a couple of days main characters walk through a number of different climate zones. It doesn’t make sense even if it’s in the movie. :-)

I found one interesting scenes. You could find one possible answer in this movie how the Pyramids would be built that is one of we are movie lovers’ articles, Secrets of the Pyramids.

The picture is good but not enough.

It has very nice CGI screening however you won’t get to see anything other than the mammoths, tiger (singular), and that one type of dinosaur. Also the two “lead actors”(Camilla Belle, and Steven Strait) looks like they were almost in black-face makeup, or just really dirty, but with makeup, not dirt. They could have done much better in my opinion.

The performance is just fine.

Is it because of the dialect? Their performance would not be said “very nice”. Maybe there isn’t enough emotional scenes (just several), so we could rarely find their real performance.

Overall

10,000 B.C is a good entertaining movie. You should not stay true to historical facts or if some things happened in the film that couldn’t possibly happen in real life. It’s a movie, made to entertain, not to inform. This movie is not about a great story, huge turnabouts or memorable characters. Instead, Emmerich delivers a visually stunning film, with powerful action scenes and a interesting blend of civilizations on a single territory. If you have been expecting a lot, then you would possibly disappoint this movie. However, I recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good action/adventure movie or enjoys movies based back in time.
