No Country for Old Men is decent and engaging movie.
Based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, “No Country For Old Men” is one of the greatest movies with its story and characters as well as its cinematic naturalism and impressionistic style. This movie nominated for 8 Oscar Nominations is about the randomness of life. It boils down to the tragic consequences of desperate measures people will take out of greed, and is hilarious all along the way. It has a great script with natural dialect, beautiful cinematography, masterful direction by the Coen brothers, and some of the best performances. Also some of the best art (music, sculpture, film, etc) occurs when the viewer/listener brings their own experience to the process, which allows different viewpoints.
It displays awesome cinematography, so bleak and so barren, just like real life.
The storyline is quite good and decent even if the ending is a bit unsure. The movie is about a retired welder and Vietnam veteran, played by Josh Brolin comes across a case full of thousands of dollars in the pick up truck of a Mexican drug dealer. You would feel it’s a bit grim but it does not glorify the violence it contains and does not ask you to step back from or assent to the bad things that are going on. Those of you that don’t like to see bad things happen to good people might be a bit put off though.
Many people are complaining about the ending, but in my opinion, it would be good chance for us to think one more time what this movie is really trying to say.
Without no music, you can feel real intense.
Unlike a large number of thrillers, there is no music, or certainly little music in this film. It is silent, and it stays that way throughout the rest of the film. No fake strings section to tip viewers off that something bad is coming. The tension is created totally by the intersection of characters and circumstances. And it does get intense.
The three lead performances have grabbed the headlines, and understandably so.
Javier Bardem is absolutely terrifying in his atypical villainous role, one of the most frightening character ever played on film. Tommy Lee Jones also does the best acting and fit his roll perfectly. Josh Brolin gives performances of a lifetime. He gives a haunting and absolutely brilliant performance.
No Country for Old Men is a staggeringly power, beautiful, and haunting film that is unrelentingly brilliant.
It is a strange and wonderful kind of film. It grips you from the first moment and you’re on a horrifying nightmare journey that you hope is going to end well. The movie creeps along at an unsettlingly slow pace and yet you will be glued to the screen every moment. It is one of the best movies of the year and a movie lovers film.

When it comes to bad movies, Paris Hilton is just an amateur, writes Joe Queenan.
THE release in the United States of Paris Hilton's The Hottie And The Nottie has revived the debate over the worst movie ever made. Because the film logged some of the worst receipts in history - $US250 ($273) per screen on opening weekend - there is a temptation to accord it the mythical status of such universally ridiculed films as Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes or Plan 9 From Outer Space, to welcome it into the dark, Bizarro World pantheon inhabited by phantasmagoric disasters such as Showgirls, Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, The Postman and, most recently, Gigli and Swept Away.
So you always wanted to go to an opera but didn't think you could afford it? Here's an opportunity you may want to consider. Especially since it's as easy as going to a movie.
This weekend, San Francisco Opera will launch the first of six digital cinema presentations with a production of Puccini's rarely-heard "La Rondine" ("The Swallow"), starring superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Like New York's Metropolitan Opera and Italy's La Scala, the San Francisco company sees screenings as a way to expand its audience.
Madonna's movie going straight to the net
Madonna is to release her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom straight onto the Internet--because she doesn't want to rely on her pop superstardom to make her filmmaking career a success.
Banned 'Rambo' a hot commodity in Myanmar
Police in military-run Myanmar have banned DVD vendors from selling the new "Rambo" film about a Vietnam war veteran fighting the junta's soldiers, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to buy it.
Juno, Michael Clayton Among Top Oscar Nominees
Clooney is up for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, which was also nominated for its direction, screenplay and as Best Picture. Juno, meanwhile, is the little picture that could. The comedy about a pregnant teen scored a Best Actress nod for Page and is also in the running for top film, director and script.
