Jumper has so much more potential even if it is not fully developed.

Jumper, an adaptation of Steven Gould’s novel of the same name, is quite exciting and has a really high entertainment. The movie was number one at the box office this weekend. As any other super hero movies like Superman, Spider-Man and Batman, Jumper stands a good chance of success. (Can we say Jumper is our Super Hero??) However, there are many flaws which could make movie lovers to choose other movies for their preciouse weekend time. If you are just looking forward an simple entertaining action movie you will enjoy with Jumper though.

It has a very straightforward story.

The initial idea of teleportation is very much intriguing. Just imagine if you could teleport yourself to other places? It’s very interesting (and happy?? :)) to imagine it. This brilliant idea is enough to attract a lot of movie lovers and it’s true Jumper’s quite entertaining with fast paced and intense directing on the idea. However there wasn’t enough story to it, not enough background to the story. For instance, David Rice (Hayden Christensen) and Griffin (Jamie Bell) are teleporting everywhere like middle of Toko street, Irish bars and Egyptian pyramids, but it seems no one actually care about them and couldn’t notice them. But well… as all sci-fi movies, it must involve something abnormal. The story is quite easy to understand but could be too simple. It has much more potential on the storyline.

The special effects were outstanding and are probably the best thing in the movie.

The jump effects is amazing and the effect sounds that follow it is incredible. Some of the teleporting effects were highly entertaining and well done and that is what makes the movie worth watching. But well… is it only myself that I thought of Nightcrawler in X-men (2003) when I watch David Rice is teleporting?? :)
It has great action scenes and good special effects, but in itself, Jumper is an average at best action movie, that’s not going to be remembered much.

Their performance is a bit disappointing, but could see their future potential.

In my opinion, Hayden Christensen could have done a lot more with the character. He continually shows a lack of commitment to his character. However, he’s a young actor with a lot of potential for both talent and chemistry.

Rachel Bilson playing Millie is produce some-what adequate performances and could have been better. At last, she has her moments, but overall it’s a mediocre performance.

Jamie Bell is the main supporting role in the film as the second jumper Griffin and it is a joy to watch and laugh at throughout the film (he provides most of the comic relief). Bell is outstanding and one of the best young actors working today.

Samuel L. Jackson… I couldn’t give any comment on him as he’s a great actor today. However, what I feel about his role is not quite suitable with him. Roland is at the side of evil, but in my mind, Samuel L. Jeckson couldn’t be bad as Roland. Maybe it’s my problem :-) And also personally I don’t like his yellow (white?) hair with no reason… :-)

Jumper is a simple entertaining movie.

Although it wasn’t anything groundbreaking, it’s still a fantastic movie and has a lot of entertaining. If you expected really a lot from its plot and tailer, you might be disappointed, but it’s still a good watch. Even though there are weaknesses of the script or whatever, Jumper still manages to fit the bill of action/sci-fi thriller well. Also isn’t it so interesting to think of teleporting myself to anywehre??
