Juno (2007)

Juno is a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker. You will laugh, you will cry, and most importantly, you will walk away wanting to see it again and again.

Juno is the finest, funniest and most fabulous example of knowing, hep and stylized filmmaking in some time. This fun and moving movie is written by Diablo Cody. This is her first script and now she’s the hottest new writer in Hollywood. The film has received nominations for four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Ellen Page. With its good storyline as well as cute music, from conception to delivery, Juno is what you long for as emotionally rich as it is witty and nutty.

The story is told with empathy and humor.

One of Juno’s strongest suits is that like its quotable centerpiece, it isn’t what you think it might be. When 16-year-old Juno gets knocked up by shy goofball Paulie (Michael Cera), she quickly considers all options. But instead of becoming a teen pregnancy/abortion telemovie with op shop fashions and impressive pop culturising, Juno subtly shifts to an unusual look at parenting, relationships, choice and, well, life.

But, it would be criticized because of unrealistic story process. Juno’s parents seems irresponsible in warning her of future impact of this adoption for her life. The movie seems treating this serious problem simply. Also Paulie seems not really care about the pregnancy… OR too shy?

Most of the music used in this was light, indie song fare.

The film’s soundtrack is nice, including music by Kimya Dawson, The Moldy Peaches, Mott the Hoople, Cat Power and others. The soundtrack has been generally well received, by critics and

moviegoers alike. It saw unexpectedly high sales, becoming the best-selling album on the United States iTunes music store upon release and remaining so for more than ten weeks thereafter.

Everyone does traffic job.

Ellen Page as Juno is perfectly cast and delivers her character perfectly. Michael Cera did a solid job as Paulie Bleeker. While Page and Cera confirm their A-list status, their elders also shine. J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney rule as Juno’s folsk. Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner (easily her best performance) are spot-on as the stilted couple looking to adopt Juno junior.

Acting

Acting is very good from everyone. Jessica Alba (Sydney Wells) plays a very likable character that you get to like instantly. She did such a good job in the movie. Paul (Alessandro Nivola) is also good, but his character is dull, arrogant and unlikeable. Other actors also do good job.

One of the movies you must see.

In fact, I had concerns about the persistence of the slang-heavy dialogue at the outset but was relieved to find the movie settle into sharp bantering exchanges that make way for more human dimensions. Many teenagers quote that the dialog is actually not quite a true mirror of the language of today’s teenagers though :-)

It is funny, touching and moving. You will never feel bored and you will leave the movie very happy. If your looking for a good laugh or a good cry or maybe just both, Juno is the movie for you.

Don’t miss out. You will love this movie!
