Sydney Wells is an accomplished concert violinist who has been blind since a childhood tragedy. Sydney undergoes a double corneal transplant, and her sight is restored. But Sydney’s happiness is short-lived as unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Are they a passing aftermath of her surgery, Sydney’s mind adjusting to sight, a product of her imagination, or something horrifyingly real? As Sydney’s family and friends begin to doubt her sanity, Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see.

General
The Eye is a remake of Hong Kong chiller “Gin Gwai (The Eye)“. This movie is not only a horror film. It has drama and psychological thriller as well as more of a mystery story. It’s about a girl who’s been blind since age of 5 and how she has to cope with gaining her sight and losing her mind. Generally the movie has its own creepy moments and you will enjoy it
Story
The story won’t be quite fresh if you are a fan of Asian horror movies. Comparing to “The Ring” and “Dark Water
” as well as “Silent Hill
“, the story is not shocking enough. Also the story would be too smooth and the ending seems a bit boring. Unfortunatly the story is predictable and full of token jump scares and cliches. But still it would give you engouh scary feeling about ghost. Without comparing “The Eye” with other movies, the story could be nice though.
Picture
It’s not a bloddy movie like “Interview with the Vampire“. The pictures gives you a real horror exists in the mind. It is what you don’t see more than what you do that is truly frightening. The picure is well taken, but there’s still something’s not enough to display horror scenes without the sound effect.
Sound
“The Eye” has traditional horror sound effect like jumpping out at you, loud noises, things that just make you jump off your chair rather than truly going for the ominous feeling of foreboding. Also there is not enough horror sound like the creepy and scarying ghost sound in “The Ring”. But well it’s ghost movie. It’s more than enough to make you feel the ghost is just beside you.
Acting
Acting is very good from everyone. Jessica Alba (Sydney Wells) plays a very likable character that you get to like instantly. She did such a good job in the movie. Paul (Alessandro Nivola) is also good, but his character is dull, arrogant and unlikeable. Other actors also do good job.
Overall
It starts off good, has an interesting plot, good acting and I will say it does have a couple of creepy moments thrown in there. If you are a fan of horro movies, “The Eye” would not satisfy you enough. But let’s not comparing “The Eye” with other horro movies. It has it’s own horro moment and creppy sound. “The Eye” would help you imagine ghost while you are in a dark toilet alone. It’s not perfect movie but The Eye has satisfying echoes of horror plus ghost stories.

When it comes to bad movies, Paris Hilton is just an amateur, writes Joe Queenan.
THE release in the United States of Paris Hilton's The Hottie And The Nottie has revived the debate over the worst movie ever made. Because the film logged some of the worst receipts in history - $US250 ($273) per screen on opening weekend - there is a temptation to accord it the mythical status of such universally ridiculed films as Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes or Plan 9 From Outer Space, to welcome it into the dark, Bizarro World pantheon inhabited by phantasmagoric disasters such as Showgirls, Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, The Postman and, most recently, Gigli and Swept Away.
So you always wanted to go to an opera but didn't think you could afford it? Here's an opportunity you may want to consider. Especially since it's as easy as going to a movie.
This weekend, San Francisco Opera will launch the first of six digital cinema presentations with a production of Puccini's rarely-heard "La Rondine" ("The Swallow"), starring superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Like New York's Metropolitan Opera and Italy's La Scala, the San Francisco company sees screenings as a way to expand its audience.
Madonna's movie going straight to the net
Madonna is to release her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom straight onto the Internet--because she doesn't want to rely on her pop superstardom to make her filmmaking career a success.
Banned 'Rambo' a hot commodity in Myanmar
Police in military-run Myanmar have banned DVD vendors from selling the new "Rambo" film about a Vietnam war veteran fighting the junta's soldiers, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to buy it.
Juno, Michael Clayton Among Top Oscar Nominees
Clooney is up for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, which was also nominated for its direction, screenplay and as Best Picture. Juno, meanwhile, is the little picture that could. The comedy about a pregnant teen scored a Best Actress nod for Page and is also in the running for top film, director and script.
