General
Cloverfield seen through the hand-held cameras effect completely immerses you in the incredible and realistic situation with absolutely no knowledge to comfort you.
There are two obvious groups criticizing this movie, Very nice and Very bad.
One of the reason people was disturbed by this movie seems because of its shaking hand-held camera effect. Warning! You may get motion sickness.
If you have motion sickness, I suggest you never ever sit in front row. You will have to pause watching the movie every second. Manage to get a seat further from the screen. A lot of people around me in the cinema couldn’t even watch the screen at times. So no sit at the back? Get a ticket for next session.
Besides, these realistic and brilliant visual effects, there are many funny parts as well. Thanks to the cameraman. “Oh My God, you know Superman too? Geez I’m feeling a connection… have you heard of Garfield?”. Well… Funny
Picture
The presentation is brilliant the hand-held camera made the effects look great and realistic. But as I said, be warned about motions sickness.
The film is an amazingly visceral experience. It absolutely feels like you are experiencing this with the characters, who feel more or less exactly like real people. It’s very disorienting you never figure out what is going on but you’re so into survival that you put it past you.
Cloverfield delivers visceral pleasure.
Sound
Many thrilling sound effects wow people. Also it really feel like you are standing next to the soldiers shooting at the monster. You may not find a great orchestra symphony in this movie, but enough to make you feeling beside the characters.
Action
The acting is not bad, but we can barely find real insight on the characters themselves. But it’s true that they might have no time to enjoy crying or whatsoever in that tense situation.
Overall
Cloverfield is quite brilliant movie immersing people into the screen. However many people criticize that this movie can be summarized as “The Blair Witch Experience” meets “The Godzilla”
, but it is so much more than that. Cloverfield definitely will not be everybody’s cup of tea, but if you’re already excited about it, I have no doubt that you’ll be satisfied. The movie is amazing whether or not the ending was satisfying.
It was a relatively unique experience, and again I want to applaud the decision to make it in that manner.
But the title… I’m quite wondering what Cloverfield have to do with it.
Anyhow, Action/Thriller fans will love it!

When it comes to bad movies, Paris Hilton is just an amateur, writes Joe Queenan.
THE release in the United States of Paris Hilton's The Hottie And The Nottie has revived the debate over the worst movie ever made. Because the film logged some of the worst receipts in history - $US250 ($273) per screen on opening weekend - there is a temptation to accord it the mythical status of such universally ridiculed films as Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes or Plan 9 From Outer Space, to welcome it into the dark, Bizarro World pantheon inhabited by phantasmagoric disasters such as Showgirls, Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, The Postman and, most recently, Gigli and Swept Away.
So you always wanted to go to an opera but didn't think you could afford it? Here's an opportunity you may want to consider. Especially since it's as easy as going to a movie.
This weekend, San Francisco Opera will launch the first of six digital cinema presentations with a production of Puccini's rarely-heard "La Rondine" ("The Swallow"), starring superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Like New York's Metropolitan Opera and Italy's La Scala, the San Francisco company sees screenings as a way to expand its audience.
Madonna's movie going straight to the net
Madonna is to release her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom straight onto the Internet--because she doesn't want to rely on her pop superstardom to make her filmmaking career a success.
Banned 'Rambo' a hot commodity in Myanmar
Police in military-run Myanmar have banned DVD vendors from selling the new "Rambo" film about a Vietnam war veteran fighting the junta's soldiers, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to buy it.
Juno, Michael Clayton Among Top Oscar Nominees
Clooney is up for Best Actor for Michael Clayton, which was also nominated for its direction, screenplay and as Best Picture. Juno, meanwhile, is the little picture that could. The comedy about a pregnant teen scored a Best Actress nod for Page and is also in the running for top film, director and script.
